Profile - Rachel Dunn
I am currently in my tenth year of teaching and have spent eight of those in middle management. I have been a HOY for four years now, three of those spent as the HOY 7. During this time, I have been increasingly responsible for the organisation and delivery of the Year 6-7 Transition Process; I took over this role from our Deputy Head. I strongly believe that the transition process can have a huge impact on the year group. I believe that transition should not only start in Year 6 but that strong links should be made between secondary and feeder schools prior to students starting Year 6. A strong transition process and relationship between secondary and feeder school can have a hugely positive impact on student behaviour, parental trust and support, and student attainment and attendance. I would welcome the opportunity to work with many more secondary schools on their transition polices and processes.
