Profile - Kirsty Sweeney
My main specialism lies heavily within my subject of Business. Having left university with a first degree classification in Business I then went straight into delivering this subject at GCSE and A level. I have been teaching for around 5 years. For 4 of those years I have been in subject leader roles - the first being in my previous employment where I was subject leader for financial capability and it was my responsibility to introduce, create and manage the delivery of this new course. Since being in my current employment I am now subject leader for the new GCSE 9-1 specification of Business as well as lead practitioner in the department and a mentor.
I have completed a number of leadership and subject specialist training programmes over the years of teaching and I am a strong believer in continuous development and that there is always more to learn. I thoroughly enjoy mentoring on the ITT programmes where I am able to pass on my knowledge and experience and see people develop to have an even bigger positive impact on students learning.
I have a strong set of academic results for previous years including 2018/19 results where 85% of my A level class got A*-B and the GCSE 9-1 cohort achieved above the national average. I have a passion for behaviour and organisation as from my experience this has a massive impact on student learning and the environment.
