The Benfleet Teaching School Alliance is delighted to offer schools an opportunity to attend a series of sessions in 2020/21 by Robin Launder - the Behaviour Buddy. Delegates will be able to attend five sessions throughout the academic year on 'Behaviour Management', 'Mindset Theory', 'The Teacher-Student Relationship', 'Memory and metacognition' and Robin's new follow up session 'Better Behaviour 2.0'.

A regular conference speaker, Robin Launder presents on a range of educational matters, but his two main focuses are behaviour management and (the topic for his London Wide session) the neuroscience of how we learn. He has worked as a lead English teacher in a busy comprehensive, as a middle leader in an outstanding Pupil Referral Unit, and as a SIP in a London borough. He is a regular contributor to TESPro, Teach Primary and various other journals and magazines and presents for PiXL, NEU, NASUWT, Herts University, ResearchED and countless schools, colleges and MATs across the country and abroad. As anyone who has seen him speak can tell you, Robin’s sessions are pacey, fun and informative. You will certainly laugh out loud; you may even cry a little - but either way you will learn loads and leave highly motivated to apply what you’ve learn to your educational setting.

Memory and Metacognition

Learning is memory – or to put it another way, if what we teach doesn’t enter the long-term memory of our students then actually we haven’t taught them anything. So, then, how can we hack the memory process so that learning (and progress, achievement and better grades) can happen? This session will show you how. It will give you the up-to-date neuroscience (in very manageable and memorable chunks) and link that neuroscience to specific teaching approaches and strategies. Whatever you do, don’t forget to book this session - this session gets to the very heart (well, the brain) of how to teach effectively - it is crucial CPD!

Feedback from colleagues following his training has included:

Robin's fast-paced and humourous delivery engaged everyone and led to instant changes in practice and outlook. I have never experienced a more positive response from my teachers to any CPD session.  A real eye-opener - excellent!

Robin delivered an excellent session to our full staff group.  They were engaged from start to finish because Robin was engaging from start to finish. High energy, entertaining and  - most importantly of all - what he had to say was worth listening to.

Robin's delivery style made the behaviour session extremely enjoyable and put colleagues at ease. The feedback has been extremely positive and since the training we have been actively modelling a number of his behaviour approaches.

This training is suitable for both primary and secondary phases.

This course may be offered online depending on government guidelines at the time of delivery.  Delegates will be informed of any changes in format as soon as practicable.
